Highway toll collectors are responsible for collecting money from drivers who pass through toll booths. They must count and record the money they collect, issue receipts to customers, and provide change when necessary. They must also maintain the cleanliness of their work area and answer any questions customers may have about the tolls or directions. Toll collectors must be able to work in all weather conditions and be prepared to handle large volumes of traffic during peak times.
